Adapted from the novel by Ann Cheetham

Colin, Prill and their cousin Oliver are holidaying in a new cottage on the west coast of Ireland, along with their mother and baby sister Alison. It soon becomes clear that all is not as it should be – the telephone refuses to work, Alison won’t stop crying, Jessie, their dog, becomes ill milk and food go bad overnight, and Prill is haunted by the vision of a rgged, starving woman. Old Donal, who lives in a caravan nearby, seems to hold the answer to the mystery…

A powerful play. It will read superbly well in class and, later, generate original project work. Times Educational Supplement
